Guest Speakers
We hold multiple guest speaker events a semester, inviting professionals across the alternative investments industry to network and participate in a Q&A with our members..
Pitch Competitions
Competition brings out the best in our members. We hold pitch competitions every semester, giving our members the chance to showcase what they know. We plan on expanding our pitch competition program in the future to include other alternative investment clubs in the northeast, raising the bar for our members.
Market Analysis and Updates
Our analysts and heads of asset classes will give weekly updates on their respective markets. This will allow all of our members to stay informed across the alternatives market.
Office Visits
We take advantage of being located in the financial capitol of the world. We engage with investment and asset managers across NYC to set up office tours and familiarize our club with their recruiters.
Relationship Building
At the end of the day, we're a club! Not a business. We look forward to fostering relationships between Baruch students that will last a lifetime and will have social events scheduled throughout the semester.

What Does a Typical Semester with BAI Look Like?
Speaker Events & Recruiting Panels
We host curated speaker and recruiting events featuring industry professionals who share insights on their careers, current market trends, and practical advice for breaking into the industry.
Presentations & Workshops
Through technical presentations and hands-on workshops, our members gain practical skills in valuation, financial modeling, and market research—preparing them to compete and excel in the industry.
Social Events
With 5+ social events each semester, we foster a strong sense of community through dinners, game nights, and informal meetups that build lasting connections among members.

Katie Stockton
During the semester, our club had the opportunity to host Katie Stockton, founder of Fairlead Strategies and a CNBC contributor. Our members presented their research, engaged with her insights, and connected with her after the event.
Exclusive Centerbridge Panel
BAI hosted an exclusive panel with two senior executives from Centerbridge, giving members the opportunity to learn directly from industry leaders. Multiple BAI members have also participated in Centerbridge’s fellowship program.

Accelerator Program
Professional Development & Intro to Finance
Mentees strengthen core professional skills while developing foundational knowledge of finance careers and the alternative investment landscape.
Alternative Asset Class Presentations
Mentees present on a selected alternative asset class, covering its structure, key players, return drivers, risks, and role within a broader portfolio.
Financial Modeling & Equity Research
Mentees develop Excel and financial modeling skills by building a three-statement model and DCF valuation, then apply them in an equity research project by analyzing a public company and presenting a model-supported investment thesis.
Other Alternative Asset Pitch
Mentees present a pitch on a non-traditional alternative asset (e.g., collectibles, luxury goods, art, or other niche assets), culminating their technical knowledge, communication, and professional judgment.

Baruch College’s Alternative Investment Club partnered with the Chartered Financial Analyst Society New York to host the Student Leader Symposium on Dec. 11, 2025.
Inspired by the growth of alternative investment clubs at other universities, Kirt Bromley and Andrew Horyczun felt Baruch College needed one of its own.
